Lifted Jeeps
Lifted jeeps can either have their suspension lifted or their body lifted. A body lift raises the body up to 3 inches which is great for adding larger wheels and tires but does make the jeep more top heavy. These don’t increase the ground clearance and it is still the stock suspension being used. Often on jeeps there will be a small gap between the frame and body that many people dislike.
The other option for lifted jeeps is to lift the suspension. This allows for larger wheels and tires without effecting the frame and cab of the vehicle. There is more travel from the shocks which in turn provides more ground clearance. The higher the lift the more difficult the jeep will be to maneuver and may require an upgraded transmission as well as steering box. More power is always beneficial as well.
An easy way to make body lifted jeeps is with cheap hockey pucks. Simply drill the proper size holes in the center of the puck and then install them in between the frame and the body for the $10 body lift. They are basically the same material and size as the pieces used in $100-200 body lift kits. It is absolutely vital to make sure the hole drilled is right in the center of the puck for best results.
